Important Library Information

After the perfect storm of two library books coming in at once, I looked into the situation and found out you can actually pause a request online and keep your place in queue. This would have been useful knowledge last week, but I was not smart enough to look into it then. The commenter who said I should give 'The Da Vinci Code' to a 6th grader was on the mark. It is the simplest written book I've read in a long time. It's a pretty interesting story, but there's no sentences longer than six words I think. Even the Harry Potter books had more complex sentence structures. The good news is that this allows me to tear through the book at lightning speed so I'm almost a quarter of the way through it already. I'm looking forward to finishing it so I can start 'In Cold Blood' which I have been a lot more curious to read. I saved it for second since it can often be found in the library's Express Read section where you can take out a popular book for one week with no renewals. If I don't finish it by the due date I plan to check it out of the express read section to finish it off. I had my thinking cap on when I made this decision.

Last night we had an SSDC reunion dinner thing at the Royal Oak. I took this course four years ago and was amazed that over 12 people showed up for the dinner. I didn't make a reservation, and it was busy as hell so we had to stand around for a while waiting for a table but it worked out well. It was raining off and on all day, so after dinner the six of us left moved to the patio during an 'off' spell which kept turning back into 'on' spells throughout the night. I wasn't fortunate enough to be sitting under the umbrella, so I got a little wet. Ottawa has been having some strange weather this week with a lot of thunderstorms. We played some six person hearts which worked out suprisingly well. After that we went back to Purdy's to play poker. I am not a big fan of poker, but I easily cave into peer pressure so I played and lost my shirt (akak $5). I am a lot more comfortable at twoonie games and will not be playing this high stakes poker again in the near future.

I don't have a lot of plans this weekend which is the way I want it. I have been burning the candle at both ends lately and am looking forward to a relaxing weekend. I am going for breakfast with Uhrbach tomorrow morning and then watching the England/Portugal match at my place. I'm not sure what I'm doing after that for the rest of Canada Day. Sunday evening I am going to a BBQ that Jake got me an invitation to. Other than that, I will play it by ear and see what comes up.

Big Thanks go out to Beefy for helping me out with some html code.

New Look at the Rabbit Hole

I didn't like the complexity of the html of my old blog template, so I decided to do some digging and find something new. I hope you enjoy this new 3 column template that I found at Blogger Templates By Caz. Thanks for the great templae Caz, whoever you are! Believe it or not, some sites actually charge for the code of their customized blog templates. I guess they don't believe in open source as much as the folks at Blogger themseleves.

I plan to continue fiddling with the details like column width, spacing, aligning lists and deciding what to put on each side column, but I wanted to publish it as is now so I could continue blogging.

Enjoy!!

More Birthdays and More Volleyball and More Books

I am debating quitting my Monday night volleyball team since I'm not getting much out of it (socially or volleyball wise), but I decided to give it one more shot this week. It was more or less the same as it always has been, but there's no game next week due to the long weekend so I figure I'll put off quitting one more week and see how I feel after that. I can't remember if we won 2-1 or lost 1-2. I don't pay much attention to stuff like that.

After the game, I went over to my friend Kent's house (a.k.a. The Kenthouse) for the first time to watch the season (now series) finale of Showtime's 'Huff!'. This is one of the best shows on TV in my opinion, but underwatched which I guess is why it got cancelled after two seasons. Also present was fellow Methodologist Leon who happens to live in my building, but since I was coming from volleyball we didn't carpool. The show itself was good as always, but it was a little sad to watch knowing it was the last time I'd see these characters. I may pick up the first season on DVD soon, so it should be available for borrowing if anybody is interested. I also saw the last half of a movie called 'Fear of a Black Hat' which spoofs the 80's/90's rap scene, primarly N.W.A. It wasn't amazing, but had a few chuckles. I can think of a few people I know who might enjoy it.

Yesterday was BigRig's Birthday (a.k.a. Mark), so Heidi invited the fellas to join them and A-train at the Urban Well for some Tapas. Unfortunately we were shocked to find out that they have been steadily jacking up their price of Tapas, and what used to be half priced appetizers are now in the range of 60-95% priced appetizers. Still, the food is delicious and most of us had the deep fried calamari and honey garlic wings. Heidi was generous enough to pick up our food tab which was incredibly nice of her. Purdy and Mullins plan to write her out cheques to pay her back, but I am willing to accept her generous gesture as just that. After dinner, I just came home and chilled out. I watched the movie 'Training Day' which I had sitting here for a while. It started out pretty decent, with a very 'The Shield' like quality of a good cop who does whatever to get the job done, but it eventually unravels into a cliche 'he's into problems with the Russian mob' type of story. YAWN. Still, it had promise and I enjoyed some parts quite a bit, so I give this movie 3 carrots out of 4.

Today I had to leave work a bit early to renew my driver's licence since the place closes at 5. That went smoothly, and I hope I don't look like too much of a tourist in my photograph since I'll be stuck with it for three years. After that, I grabbed some groceries at Blah Blah's and headed home to eat something healthy and delicious. On my way to volleyball I stopped at the library to drop off a couple books and pick up 'The Da Vinci Code' which was waiting for me. I was shocked to find out that 'In Cold Blood' was also there for me. What a disaster. I put these on my request list back in April and was #200 or so for both. Now they have both hit at the same time, so I have three weeks to read them both since I surely can't renew such popular books. We lost all 3 games at volleyball but played fairly well against a tough team. I thought they were calling stations though and didn't enjoy playing them at all. They claimed that the winning team should keep the serve on the next game. I have never heard of this rule before, and even if it is the 'official' rule, it is the first time I've heard it in this league after playing in it for more than a year.

Usually my team goes out to eat after playing but we couldn't agree on a place tonight so we said F it. I came home and started reading 'The Da Vinci Code'. It's the big version with pictures, so the 400+ pages shouldn't take that long to get through. I may actually have a shot at killing these books by the due date.

Finally, I am going to play around with my template a bit in the near future, so if you ever come to my blog and it looks messed up, it is only temporary.

Birthday Weekend

Well this past Sunday was my birthday, so I had a bash on Saturday to celebrate. Twelve of my dear friends came over and we proceeded to fire up the BBQ on the 4th floor patio...both grills were full baby! I didn't have enough ice for my cooler to keep everybody's beverages cold down there, so I ran out with JC to buy some. Turns out the Food Sanction runs a low supply so I had to walk to Purdy's neighbourhood and get some from the back room of the H&H. I was a little worried how well it would work out with people having to go back up to my apartment to use the washroom, etc., but turns out it wasn't too big of a problem. I grilled up a delicious steak I bought at Saslove's Butcher, but there was lots of extra food as Val brought a huge Elk sausage she had brought back from Regina. It was delicious. I am eating elk meat exclusively from now on. At one point while I was up in my apartment grabbing something, a lady on the 8th floor opened her curtains and took a picture of the patio. She either wanted evidence if we caused some problems, or she wanted to show somebody how much fun we were having. I now believe it was the latter since I never heard any complaints afterwards. Here is a choice shot from the BBQ portion of the evening similar to what she may have taken.

Around 9 we headed up to the Rabbit Hole where we all sat around and gabbed for a few hours and enjoyed ourselves. I found out that with 13 people in an apartment, even A/C on full boar can't keep it cool enough. Next time I will make it a little igloo before people show up. At one point some of my friends sprung a card and Chapter gift certificate on me. I was really grateful, but it didn't show up in my 'thank you' hugs according to them. In my defense, I had a lot of people to hug and they were all sitting down. If you want a good hug from me, meet me on my level. Here are some photos from the party portion of the evening.

You can see more shots from the evening in the appropriate album in http://eurowesley.shutterfly.com

When there were only 7 of us left just after midnight we decided to head down to the Market. We wanted to go to Bar 56, but the bouncer said it was full so we went to Collection upstairs. JC bought me a JD & Red Bull, which is an interesting drink that gets you wired! After the bar, JC, Jenn and Val came back to my place for a bit but they left pretty quickly as we were all beat. I had Purdy's keys since he was wearing swim trunks like a tourist and had no pockets, but I couldn't get in touch with him. I assumed he would just sleep on the street since he had no interest in finding his keys. Turns out he was on Mullins' balcony with Erin G. and Mullins and had his phone on vibrate. He spent the night there so disaster was averted. I saw my boy Dan in Winnipeg was online still at this late hour, so I called him up and gabbed for a bit since I was still riding a caffeine high from the Red Bull. Just after 4 I shut it down.

My actual birthday was pretty low key, and I spent most of it chilling with my boy Purdy. We got some sandwiches at Subway, ate them in Laroche park before tossing the ole softball around and shooting some hoops. After that I cam ehome to shower and talked to my family on the phone. I kept it low key, as I had a plan to go buy a webcam and then have a video conference later in the day. I did just that, as I picked up my boy Purdy again and headed to Nepean. First stop was Costco, where he successfully returned his broken digital camera completely hassle free. It's almost enough to make me want to get another membership. After that I went to BestBuy to look at webcams. There was an $80 and a $40 model which looked almost identical, so I put on my thinking cap and went for the cheaper one. When I got to the cash it rang in at $55. Turns out there is a $15 mail in rebate. I said no thanks since I hate those things, and went across the street to Future Shop. They had the exact same selection, so I said F it and bought the same camera. I never expect to see that $15 though.

After that we headed to Westboro which was so dead that disco could actually come back to life there in comparison. We grabbed some beverages at Bridgehead and then went out to eat supper at Chu Shing. As usual, the service was terrible and I don't think they said more than 3 words to us the whole time we were there. Most of our food was adequate as always, but one dish I would not recommend is the Beef Cantonese Style. Purdy and I both felt like garbage cans after that one. After supper I came home, hooked up the webcam and successfully had a web cam conversation with my mom, dad, brother and sister in law. The technology is not quite at the totally smooth level they advertise it to be, but it is definetly clearer than last time I messed with it 7 or 8 years ago. I also tried it out with my friend Dan in Winnipeg and it worked like a dream. To round out my story, I watched an incredible episode of Deadwood Chez Mullins and the shut her down. Another birthday in the books.

I am a very materialistic person, so here is a list of what I got as presents for my birthday:

My parents - the pink shirt and tie that I wore to Uhrbach's wedding which got rave reviews from everybody (note that I picked this item out and am due all fashion credit) and a $25 Blah Blah's Gift Card to buy cake and ice cream which I instead used to buy party supplies. Thanks!

Boris, Klarka, JC, Shanna, Steph, Marnie, Edith, Val, Jenn - $180 gift card for Chapters. That is a lot of books to read!! I know none of you read my blog, but if you ever stumble upon it, Thanks!

Purdy - a $2.77 bottle of Jerk Sauce. It was delicious on my steak at the BBQ baby!

Mullins & Erin G. - the book 'rabbit, run' by John Updike. I can't wait to read it!!

If you are still reading this. I hope you enjoyed it. I am now very bored after spending 30 minutes writing this drivel.

*UPDATE* Paying it Forward

Two years ago when I was home for Christmas, my brother gave me a free receiver and 5 disc CD player that he had sitting in his garage. If I recall correctly, his father in law had given it to him and his wife. I needed such an item, so he generously paid it forward and gave it to me. It made for some heavy luggage on the trip back but it worked out. It worked well for me for some time, but unfortunately the CD Player started skipping eventually. I tried to clean it but to no avail. This past May, my folks were out and I bought a new home theatre system, so I no longer had need for these items. They were sitting around my apartment for the last month, but since I had to clean up today as I'm having some people over, I decided it was time to do something about them. I had previously promised Pops (a.k.a. Pat Mullins) that I would give him the receiver so he could run his tv sound out to their pool, so I first brought that and some extra speaker wire over to my boy Mullins' apartment. Problem 1 solved. I was going to take the CD player to Good Will or something but decided that was too much work. Instead I decided to give back to the community, so I taped a sign to it reading 'I SKIP BUT I'M FREE' and left it in a pile of old furniture near my place where such items can often be found. Hopefully it finds a good home...

My incredibly informative sign.

Free for the taking.

The view of the pile from my balcony.

*UPDATE*
I went out with my boy Purdy around 2pm to do some chores for tonight. When we rolled back into Mechanicsville about 2 hours later the CD Player was gone. I knew that would be snapped up quickly around here. Enjoy it, whoever you are!

Balcony Living

Yesterday was a dead day at work. The place was a ghost town, and I blame it on today being St. Jean Baptiste day in Quebec. After the tortorus day ended, I came home, did some stuff, ate some supper, read some books and watched some TV. Later in the evening, Purdy came over and we enjoyed the end of a gorgeous day by chilling out on my balcony for a couple hours. There was a terrifying moment when about 200+ seagulls were circling around Tunney's Pasture. We thought they might all take a hairpin turn and fly right into us, smother us and my balcony in a whirlwind of beaks and talons, but eventually they just all flew away. Purdy hates these things as much as he hates black squirrels, but I still give the nod to pigeons as the 'flying rat' of the bird world after my years long battle at my old apartment. Purdy snapped a shot of them, but since it was sunset it didn't turn out that well. Popular theory is that they were eating bugs.

Here is a photo I snapped of Purdy. If he ever goes missing I will make sure they use this as his 'last known photograph' on the front page of the Ottawa Citizen since he looks like such a deadbeat. This morning I finally took some photos of my expanding family, aka my garden. From right to left, I have 'Sweetums', my sweet millions tomato plant, then hiding in the back is 'Lil Greenie' my little green pepper plant. Following him is 'Fantastico', my big fantastic tomato plant, 'The Red Machine', my little fantastic tomato plant and finally 'The Big Green Monster', my big sweet bell pepper plant.

These are my first tomatoes of the season, coming off of 'Sweetums' and the first flower on 'The Big Green Monster' (although 'Lil Greenie' has a bud of his own). At this rate, I should be eating nothing but salad in a week!!

*UPDATE* As the last part of my balcony trifecta of tales, I would like to scoop the Ottawa news and report a fire in Gatineau at approximately 9:45am this morning. I noticed some smoke across the river when I was writing this blog. I ran out to my balcony and snapped a photo of it. It looks bad, but I am happy to report that the hard working heroes of the Gatineau Fire Department got it under control, and now less than 20 minutes later there is no smoke. Good work boys!!!

Mike Tyson's Punch Out in 18 Minutes

Check out this incredible video, which is exactly as described above. Somebody managed to take Little Mac (a.k.a. Kid Dynamite) from zero to hero in less than 18 minutes, without letting barely anybody lay a hand on him (Mr. Sandman gets some good licks in). The likes of Piston Honda and Soda Popinski never had a chance though. 18 minutes....makes those endless hours I spent on this game as a kid seem like a waste of time.

This was actually done with an NES emulator acording to the site, so I'm sure he had to do several matches multiple times to get these perfect knock outs. Come on. Did you really think somebody could take down Super Macho Man in 45 seconds on the first try?

The Little Things

Here are a few of the little things I have done today or currently have going on in my life:

1) I was going to come home for lunch, but at the last minute J.C. called me up so we went out and got sausages from Derek and went down to the caf for lunch. We had a great bullshit session about nothing in particular.

2) I am breaking in new sandals I bought last week. At first they were comfortable, but after 2 days of extensive wear at work they are chewing up my feet. They are flip flops, and where the material on top meets my feet is getting tore up. I have put band-aids over top of these raw skin patches but they just get peeled up and knocked off by the sandals. I am going to take a break from them for a few days and hope tougher skin grows back in its place.

3) I played tennis after work with my boy Purdy. He gave me an old school beat down. I am not very good at tennis to begin with, but tonight I played exceptionally bad. We played 3 sets and he got me 6-0 in all three. There were a couple good games which were close or where I gave up a lead, but I choked under pressure. I need to free up some time to hit balls against a wall and practice with my new racket from last summer as I need to play completely different as I did with my $10 Canadian Tire racket.

4) After tennis, I ordered Swiss Chalet. I was starving and did not feel like cooking. I despise their new regime of charging for delivery unless you spend $10, yet only charging $9 for a Quarter Chicken. This time I folded and purchased a $4 coconut cream pie to put me over the limit. It was alright, but I should have just paid the $1.50 for delivery, or got 3 extra buns for my trouble.

5) I brought my car in to get an oil change as I have offered to drive to a cottage in a couple weeks and wanted her to be in tip top shape. While there I asked if they could look into a rattle I had been hearing underneat the belly since last October. They said it would take two hours and cost about $50 to look at it, but I had my Ipod and a book so I said sure. First I walked over to Zellers (as I was at Surgenor on St. Laurent) but all it did was tear ass up my feet from my sandals. I stopped in the Dollarama, and decided I would sometime go back and buy the pint glasses they were selling for, you guessed it, one dollar. After that I hunkered down in the lobby and read. It only took about an hour and a half, and turns out it was something really simple so I didn't have to pay anything more than the initial inspection fee. Here is what they wrote:

NOISE COMING FROM A/C CLUTCH INSUFFICIENT AIR GAP BETWEEN CLUTCH AND PULLEY RECOM ADJUSTING CLUTCH GAP ADJUSTED AIR GAP NOISE GONE 0.5 HOURS

Boy am I glad I waited 9 months to get that fixed. It almost broke the bank!!

A Visit to Dr. Acula

Hello Internet!! I am continuing to enjoy my new digs at Blogger / Blogspot. Those who pay attention will see that I continue to tweak the stuff over on the side, with my most recent addition being the map of the world from Clustrmaps.com. It will keep track of where all my many vistors are coming from. I am contemplating a side site with mini reviews of books, movies and TV shows, but that sounds a bit too adventerous for me and will probably never happen. On a book related note, after starting as #196 in the queue, the library is finally about to ship me a copy of the Da Vinci Code. I'm actually not that interested in reading it, but I may as well give it a go and see why the world loves it so.

Tuesday after work I had a blood donor appointment. Every 12 weeks or so Canadian Blood Services comes to Tunney's Pasture and sets up a clinic. The thing is, you are eligible to donate every 8 weeks and I don't like that 4 week lag period, so I decided to go back to the permanent clinic on Carling Ave. This place is incredible. You get to sit in lazy boy chairs while you donate, and they have TVs you can watch. Plus the two times I have gone there hasn't been much of a wait. This kicks the ass of the fold out lawn chairs and 1+ hour it takes to donate at the Tunney's clinic. Another bonus is that I get Tim Horton's donuts after my donation (along with the usual juice and cookies provided at temporary clinics). If you're interested in donating, I recommend checking this place out.

Tuesday night I got together with Boris, Jenn and Klarka and watched four episodes of Veronica Mars season two. This show doesn't get much props up here in Canada since it's aired on UPN which not many markets have, but I highly recommend it. It's not the HBO / Showtime quality of series such as The Wire, Huff or Deadwood, but it's definetly in league with the best network stuff out there. It is particularly well liked by fans of Buffy and its ilk. Any of my peeps in the Ottawa region who are interested can give me a shout and I'll lend you season 1 on DVD.

Tonight I played volleyball with the same crew and Jeffrey and Shanna (a.k.a. Janice). We lost all three games, but had fun doing it. I blame our loss on 4 out of the 6 of us not wearing sunglasses to a match where we played 2 out of the 3 games staring at the sun. Our three hit style from the previous week fell apart and I got no good set ups to practice my smashes. I did get a couple decent blocks though, so my net game is improving. After the match up, we stopped at Pure Gelato on Elgin and had a couple scoops. It doesn't really compare to the abundant and delicious gelato I had in Italy, but it does in a pinch.

Storm Warning

I pulled the chute on my Monday volleyball team tonight and boy am I glad I did. A wicked ass storm swept into Ottawa and hammered down some rain, thunder and lightning for about half an hour right when I was supposed to be playing. I don't think I've seen such hard rain in Ottawa before. It wreaked havoc on my poor plants on the balcony, but I picked them up after and they survived the ride. Luckily I had my windows closed and the AC cranked or else my place would have got soaked. The person above me must not have been so smart as I noticed some plaster on my floor and when I looked up there was a water stain on the ceiling with some of it falling out. Times like that I'm glad I'm not a home owner. I also thought my computer had fried at one point, but I guess it just reboot during a power surge. God bless power bars. I didn't get any shots of the storm, but here's the radar imagery of the little fella.

In related news, the Carolina Hurricanes STORMED to victory over the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 in game 7 of the Stanley Cup. I guess the glass slipper shattered and the Cinderella story of the Oil just couldn't see it through to the end. I'd like to say they'll get another chance next year, but it was more or less a fluke they got as far as they did. At least now I can finally give World Cup Soccer the attention it deserves.

Lobsterizing in Belleville

This weekend, James invited me to head down to Belleville for a weekend of lobsterizing with his family and boy am I ever glad I accepted! What incredible weather for a weekend poolside. After work on Friday, we drove down there with a stop in Perth for some gas and Cherry Coke for the fellas. After we arrived, we took it easy and enjoyed the last rays of sun while chowing down on our first BBQ'd meal of the weekend. After eating we went down to the basement and I uncharacteristically threw down some cards with the Mullinses. I outlasted Pops and James but couldn't stand up head to head to Andrew. I have so much to learn.

Apparently it stormed over night, but it was nothing but sun when I crawled out of bed at 9:30. After enjoying the first bit of sun, me and the Mullins fellas headed out to the Quinte Mall. I wavered on some shorts but ended up buying a $15 pair of sunglasses from a 12 year old boy who was running the stand. I have heard 10 year old girls with deeper voices. On the way back to Chez Mullins we grabbed some drinks and got into some full time lobsterizing by the pool. Mid afternoon some other people started rolling in, including Jacko, various O'Neils, Skate and Farva. We sat around in the back, enjoying the nice weather and watched the Oil dominate the Hurricanes 4-0 on a 2 inch black and white tv. Once the game ended, we headed out to my favourite Belleville bar, the Funky Carp where we saw Nacho Libre, aka Jack Black's stunt double from that film. I would like to say I talked to him, but fact is I didn't. This is a great little bar, including all kinds of wacky stuff like 'Distance to city x' signs like on MASH, and these crazy swinging chairs. After the bar, we finally managed to flag down a cab after walking for 20-30 minutes. It is nothing like Ottawa where they are a dime a dozen.

Even though it was hot hot hot this weekend, I was sleeping in the basement where it was nice and cool so I had a great little sleep in until after noon. This day included more of the same enjoyable stuff, including a trip out to a dirt mall, a game of basketball with the fellas, watching some of the beautiful game, soaking up some sun, floating around in the pool on a little dingy and enjoying some more delicious BBQ (steak and salmon). Since it was Father's Day, I picked up a little something for my Ontario Pops which he can enjoy for years to come. Around 5:30 we finally pulled ourselves away and James drove us back to Ottawa. Thanks for the great weekend Mullinses!!

The Regular

Second blog update and my life has not gotten much more exciting but I have been a busy fella.

Wednesday after work I went up to the Royal Oak with 'The Juice', my fall/winter volleyball team, for dinner and drinks. After that I went to play volleyball with 'Supercachondo', my summer volleyball team. We went 1-2 for the night but all of the games were close and the other team had a really tall bearded fellow with monkey arms so we did pretty well considering. After the game we went to Temptation Tea Room on Bank where I had some salad rolls and a strawberry yogurt shake. Delicious! On my way home I got a call from my platonic gal pal Lisa asking if I wanted to meet her at Whispers, a local drinking establishment, to watch the end of the Oilers game. Never one to turn down an invitation I went and was glad I did, as I go to celebrate the HUGE Oil WIN in the company of other sports fans. I called Pisani as the game winner before OT started…no big deal.

Thursday I headed home after work and ripped up the exercise bike a bit, then went outside to lobsterize on my balcony waiting for Purdy to call. He came over and we BBQ'd up some food and then headed out to Nepean to run some errands. I stopped at the Comic Book Shoppe and picked up my funny books, and then we hauled ass to Costco. Purdy's camera went tits up on May Long weekend and he had to return it. It had been over the golden 1 year since he bought it and he didn't have a receipt, but it sounded like they would still take it back until the realized he was missing the CD and the cable. Burn! GL tracking down that CD Purdy. After that I went in Sportmart and dropped $50 on a pair of Columbia flip flop sandals. I am hoping these will be more comfortable and stylish than my $2 dollar store flip flops. I finished up my shopping extravaganza by picking up a rag I tried on in Winners. Purdy bought himself a killer pair of shorts. Rather than head back home, we decided to stop in Whispers for a drink and bullshit a little. On the patio we ran into the biggest collection of deadbeats you've ever seen that we knew from work so we ended up sitting with them. They were busy getting chitfaced and revelling in their Ultimate Frisbee win so we popped out of there and over to the Royal Oak. The waitress sat us in the darkest corner of the patio so we looked like a couple of creeps and made everybody's skin crawl. I had now been to both Whispers and the Royal Oak two days in a row. I am glad I am getting my face out there as a Mechanicsville / Hintonburg / Westboro regular. Around 11 we bounced from there and after getting home I called my Momma to wish her a Happy 50th Birthday.

I am going to Belleville today with James and Andrew to spend the weekend with my family and to see all of my old high school buddies from Nicholson and New York Fries. It will be good to see the old gang again and wish Pops a Happy Father's Day on Sunday.

Note. I am trying to post this blog entry via email. If you are reading this, then it worked.

I Love Bandwagons

Welcome to the all new 'Ottawa Rabbit Hole', picking up where 'Wesley's Happy Fun Time Ottawa Blog' left off. Expect more of the same asinine stories of my life which only the people involved could find remotely entertaining. I will keep my old blog alive indefinetly for anybody who wants to flash back to the last 7-8 months of my life.

Why switch blog providers you ask? First off, all my friends are doing it and I love bandwagons. Second, Blogger just provides a lot more flexibility and is a lot more customizable compared to Bloglines. For example, I can make the 'Books I Have Read' and 'Movies I Have Seen' lists over on the right side. And third, the truth is I have just gotten kind of bored of blogging lately, so I am hoping this change will give me the kick start required to bring my attention back to the relationship after my mind and heart has started to wander.

I was going to wait to release this new site until I had had a while longer to polish it to perfection, and I was going to wait until I had something monumental and interesting to write about in the first post. Then I realized that a half assed job is much more my style, as is writing about something completely uninteresting (or in this case nothing at all). It more accurately reflects my lifestyle.

So enjoy the new blog. I will continue to work on it as time and interest levels permit. Go Oilers! Go England! Happy Birthday Mom!
