Holiday Mode

Hey there Bloggers all over the world! Last Friday I finished up my work for 2006 and headed home to BC for two weeks of relaxation and Christmasing. My flight went smooth and I was lucky enough not to have a chatter on either leg of my flight. No offense to plane chatters, but I am terrible at small talk so the last thing I want is a 4 hour forced conversation. I much preferred watching 1 vs 100 on my WestJet tv.

Friday through Sunday was family time, with my mom throwing a big dinner and inviting some of my friends over on Saturday. She totally stole my door prize idea, but it wasn't executed as flawlessly as at the *yawn* party and there wasn't nearly as much hype.

Since then it's been a combination of hanging out at my parents house and doing nothing (watching TV, playing PS2 or internetting) and hanging out with my friend Dave. He made me up a meal last night at his new apartment. It was delicious, but the steak was woefully undercooked so I have to pan him in the review I will write for 'Abbotsford Eats' magazine. His loss!

Until my next fit of boredom hits and I blog more...stay classy Internet.

The Weekend of Too Many Christmas Parties

Three nights...three parties. Here's how it went down...

Friday - *yawn* Love X-mas ! The second most anticipated event of the Christmas season did not disappoint. All 8 members of *yawn* made it out and best bet is that everybody had a blast. There's all kinds of activities, from cell phone based door prize draws to Wes Baby based 'What if?' games to cheery rounds of 'When the Saints Come Marching In'. I feel sorry for anybody I didn't invite to this exclusive event! The morning after my place was totally rezzed out but it was worth it. You can see some photos of this at my new Picasa account.

Saturday - Batten Love X-Mas - Purdy and I were invited to a friend's party but before that we hung out at Purdy's place, cooked up a deep dish pizza and watched Swingers to see how money we could be. His friend Andrea came over and we all bullsh*tted a while before grabbing a cab to the party. It was fun with a lot of chatting but no door prizes or other fun *yawn* type events though. Before the party ended a few of us went downtown to dance the night away. I'm sure I had the most incredible moves on the dance floor.

Sunday - X-mas Love Potluck - Some other friends of mine were having their annual pot luck gift exchange party. I was too lazy to buy a gift for the exchange, and was pretty wiped from the last two nights so I just kind of zombied my way through this one. It was still fun to see everybody though.

That's it for now. I'm off to BC on Friday after work for almost two weeks of home time. Here's an irony for you...I'm anticipating a lot of downtime during the weekdays, so I'll have a lot of time to blog, but since there won't be much going on I won't have anything to blog about. DAMN IT ALL!!

Christmas Party Season!

With December has come the official launch of Christmas party season. I go home on the 15th and there usually aren't many big parties back in BC so I have to cram in as many as possible before I go to tide me over until New Years Eve.

First on the docket was this Friday when Jenn had some people over. It wasn't really Christmas themed, but I thought I should include it for completeness sake. We ordered in some Chinese and sat around and gabbed for a while.

The big show was Saturday which was the work Recruit Christmas party, preceded by the 'Recruit Love X-mas' party chez Mullins. The banner based pre party was taking the place of the annual T-Boneium event and I think it more than lived up to any and all hype. There were banners, appetizers, door prizes, jello shots, hot dogs and Christmas carols. I don't think anybody wanted to leave but since we bought tickets for the actual party we called up some cabs and headed to the Well. As per usual, nobody was checking tickets like we promised so we just walked in. I knew over half the people there so I spent most of the night smoozing and smelling the lovely aroma of stew which was in the air. It was a great success and I can't wait until next year! You can check out some pictures of the event here (thanks to Mullins for hosting them).

The rest of my holiday cheer is as follows:
Friday - *yawn* Love X-mas
Saturday - Battens Love X-mas
Sunday - Christmas Potluck (I'm not sure how much the host loves Christmas)
