Tuesday, January 23, 2007Thank you Elizabeth B!Over Christmas I bought a new laptop from dell.ca. One of their current promotions is that all computers purchased can be upgraded to Windows Vista for free. Well the other day I tried to finally do my upgrade and it said my system wasn't eligible. Grrr! I had heard the day before on the radio that Dell was voted as having worst customer service since they outsourced a lot to India. Well my first attempt was writing an email which I never heard back from in 3 or 4 days. Unacceptable!! Today I took matters back into my hands and did an online chat with a customer service rep. Well Elizabeth B looked into my situation and had things cleared up in under 5 minutes. Now I'm sure Elizabeth B is really a 45 year old Indian woman...but God bless her. Check out this incredible conversation:
I have also recently had great customer service help from Chapters.ca who screwed up my order but fixed things within 24 hours. Next up...ING Direct. They have been very tardy in replying to my boy Purdy's question that has $26 on the line. Thursday, January 11, 2007Children of MenOkay so tonight I saw the most incredible movie, Children of Men. ![]() I knew very little about it, other than one commercial I had seen on TV and really dug. I don't want to give anything away, but basically it takes place in 2027 Britain in a world where everything has gone to hell due to the fact that no new babies had been born in the past 18 years. Clive Owen (who seemed to pop out of nowhere with Closer and has been amazing ever since) plays the main character of Theo who gets caught up in a terrorist plot and wackiness just ensues from there. Can't recommend this flick enough...get out to your local theatre ASAP. Tuesday, January 02, 2007Christmas Vacation 2006Well as predicted even though I had a fair bit of time on my hands back home I was too lazy to blog. I don't have much details to go into, but once again it was a good chance to go home and relax with friends and family (and clean up on Christmas presents). I've got the whole thing collected in the following Picasa album. Events pictured include (along with random shots), Christmas with my brother and his wife, a visit with some friends from high school (we are all fossils now compared to 10 years ago), a visit with my brother's inlaws, and actual Christmas morning with me and the folks. New Years Eve was a fun time too, as I made the drive down to Belleville to attend Farva's Rocking New Years party. Highlights included going to a sub par Italian restaurant for supper and watching Farva's dog lick a plate of pickles which were left on the table afterwards. Sadly there were no photos taken, but you'll have to trust me that I was looking incredible, being one of the only 4 people who actually took Farva's instructions to dress up seriously. Today was back to the grind. 363 days to kill until my next New Years Eve party.
