Lobsterizing in Belleville

This weekend, James invited me to head down to Belleville for a weekend of lobsterizing with his family and boy am I ever glad I accepted! What incredible weather for a weekend poolside. After work on Friday, we drove down there with a stop in Perth for some gas and Cherry Coke for the fellas. After we arrived, we took it easy and enjoyed the last rays of sun while chowing down on our first BBQ'd meal of the weekend. After eating we went down to the basement and I uncharacteristically threw down some cards with the Mullinses. I outlasted Pops and James but couldn't stand up head to head to Andrew. I have so much to learn.

Apparently it stormed over night, but it was nothing but sun when I crawled out of bed at 9:30. After enjoying the first bit of sun, me and the Mullins fellas headed out to the Quinte Mall. I wavered on some shorts but ended up buying a $15 pair of sunglasses from a 12 year old boy who was running the stand. I have heard 10 year old girls with deeper voices. On the way back to Chez Mullins we grabbed some drinks and got into some full time lobsterizing by the pool. Mid afternoon some other people started rolling in, including Jacko, various O'Neils, Skate and Farva. We sat around in the back, enjoying the nice weather and watched the Oil dominate the Hurricanes 4-0 on a 2 inch black and white tv. Once the game ended, we headed out to my favourite Belleville bar, the Funky Carp where we saw Nacho Libre, aka Jack Black's stunt double from that film. I would like to say I talked to him, but fact is I didn't. This is a great little bar, including all kinds of wacky stuff like 'Distance to city x' signs like on MASH, and these crazy swinging chairs. After the bar, we finally managed to flag down a cab after walking for 20-30 minutes. It is nothing like Ottawa where they are a dime a dozen.

Even though it was hot hot hot this weekend, I was sleeping in the basement where it was nice and cool so I had a great little sleep in until after noon. This day included more of the same enjoyable stuff, including a trip out to a dirt mall, a game of basketball with the fellas, watching some of the beautiful game, soaking up some sun, floating around in the pool on a little dingy and enjoying some more delicious BBQ (steak and salmon). Since it was Father's Day, I picked up a little something for my Ontario Pops which he can enjoy for years to come. Around 5:30 we finally pulled ourselves away and James drove us back to Ottawa. Thanks for the great weekend Mullinses!!
