Monday, June 19, 2006Storm WarningI pulled the chute on my Monday volleyball team tonight and boy am I glad I did. A wicked ass storm swept into Ottawa and hammered down some rain, thunder and lightning for about half an hour right when I was supposed to be playing. I don't think I've seen such hard rain in Ottawa before. It wreaked havoc on my poor plants on the balcony, but I picked them up after and they survived the ride. Luckily I had my windows closed and the AC cranked or else my place would have got soaked. The person above me must not have been so smart as I noticed some plaster on my floor and when I looked up there was a water stain on the ceiling with some of it falling out. Times like that I'm glad I'm not a home owner. I also thought my computer had fried at one point, but I guess it just reboot during a power surge. God bless power bars. I didn't get any shots of the storm, but here's the radar imagery of the little fella. ![]() In related news, the Carolina Hurricanes STORMED to victory over the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 in game 7 of the Stanley Cup. I guess the glass slipper shattered and the Cinderella story of the Oil just couldn't see it through to the end. I'd like to say they'll get another chance next year, but it was more or less a fluke they got as far as they did. At least now I can finally give World Cup Soccer the attention it deserves. ![]() ![]()
